Default Guage Cluster Inop until Turn Signal Activated

Ok, tried to search for this specific beast but haven't found it exactly. I'm hoping someone here is familiar with this situation, otherwise it's gonna be circuit diagram hell for me.

1982 US spec Auto...

This evening i pulled one of the PO's hellish radio installs out, and proceeded to install my alpine head unit. After completing the install and a starting the car, i noticed that none of my guages are functioning. Also, relay V continues buzzing. The turn indicator stays lit at about 80% of brightness. Now, if i turn the headlamps on, the fuel gauge jumps a little bit. The craziest part of all is if i turn right or left turn signal or hazard lights on, with every beat of the signal, the guages get juice and start to work, but not long enough to help with anything. They all start to work, speedo / temp / fuel / tach. Also, relay V stops buzzing.

My first step was to remove the head unit that I just installed and eliminate that as a potential issue, so it is out and now i need to move ahead to the next step. I checked all of the fuses, and they all look good.

Does anyone have any clue what this could be. If I can save some time on this it would be great.

Sometime in the future the car is going to be gutted and I am going to clean up all of the wiring, but for now my main concern is to be able to keep an eye on the temperature guage.

Thanks in advance.

I can't help but think that is a bad ground. I'd check all of the connections in the console area. Let us know what you come up with.

Well, i figured it out. all the fuses were good, but the contact for fuse 12 is horrible. I went through the fuse panel turning all of the fuses while the car was running just to see if it would make a difference. Number 12 was intermittently making contact and eliminating the problem. Looks like its time to break out the contact cleaner.
