Default Dash vent frames

Ive got a 1983s and it does not have the air vent frames on the dash just below the windscreen, yet that Kim Carnes 928 that was on here today on a previos thread does, the part number is 928 552 309 50, there is one left and one right. Why did some have and some had not.

The vent frames were used on cars with the factory leather dash board. The vinyl dashes were vacuum formed and didn't have them.
All Porsche 928 dash boards started as vinyl. To make a leather dash, Porsche trimmed the vinyl, glued the leather cover on, and added the vent trim piece.
