Default Calgary - alignment shop?

Anyone know of a facility in Calgary they would trust to check/align their shark?

I was experiencing a shimmy at certain velocities, that would not be noticed during normal driving, but in top gear between 3200-3700rpm's, I was getting a shimmy that while not bad, gave me some concern.

It is only in that speed range, so I suspect unbalanced wheel(s), but would like to get fully checked for peace of mind, as I have a lot of miles to cover in the next week.

TIA
Ken

Ken.............I assume the shimmy is felt through the steering wheel?

The one shop I know of in Calgary is http://www.riegeltuning.com/index.cfm; they did some work on my car before I owned it and all was found to be done very profressionaly.

Thanks Malcolm,

I will look into that place. The shimmy is through the steering wheel. The reason I have gotten a little concerned is that during this trip, I noticed a definite "clunk" when sharply turning at low speeds as well.

I think Riegel sends the cars out to do the alignments. Not that that's a bad thing. They do charge bigger $$ but claim it is done to Porsche specs. ( $266 in 2006)

It NEVER hurts to leave a copy of the alignment procedures on the passenger seat though and always spec the car is not to be lifted.

My 2 cents is to stay AWAY from the dealership, I had a bad experience and I will never go back nor recommend them to anyone.

I have had my alignment performed @ Tirecraft on south Macleod trail ( $ 78.59 in 2002) and they specs on my order not to lift the car and perform a 4 wheel alignment. Right beside Hooters as well

If your looking for tires, check out My Tires Inc. (when they quote you a price "all in" that includes everything and tax included as well).

Thanks for the tips. I shouldn't need tires, my current ones would still be under warranty anyway. I may check out tirecraft.

I avoid stealerships like the plague-ridden ****** they are. I have owned a couple of new vehicles, and have NEVER felt I got a fair treatment. A couple of times I felt I sould shower in chlorine, and get a full enema treatment to get clean, I felt so violated.

I have owned a few orphan/rare vehicles in my time, and as far as I am concerned, I know as much as most mechanics out there, and have more of an interest in doing a good job. I don't claim to be a great mechanic, just good as many and better than some. Its just that when travelling, I don't usually have convenient access to shops/hoists/power tools etc.
