Default What are these unused connectors for?

I know Rennlisters like a challenge.

I have my front right splash shields off today (installing new hood release, it's this side if you live in UK!).

Behind the front splash shield is a wiring loom which ends in a bunch of plastic connectors - an 8-way, 6-way and a few tiny 2-way male plugs.

They are neatly wrapped up in a plastic bag which has survived unscathed for over 20 years in its cosy spot just above the horns.

The wires are bound into a loom which runs over top of wheel well, then disappears into grommet below the carbon canister.

Obviously my car (RHD S4, 1988 MY) didn't need them, but I'm curious whether anyone knows what they are for? Something that's installed there in LHD cars but not RHD?

To be honest it kind of looks like something aftermarket to me.... Old alarm system perhaps?? The connectors on the wiring don't look like the style Porsche used at the time... (Mostly Mercedes connectors...)

On my LHD I'm sure I don't have that body pass-thru next to the washer tank... I recently intalled an alarm system and ran my siren wires throught the main body harness pass-thru at the firewall.... (Major PITA)

If I had that pass-thru you show I sure as hell would have used it!

Pretty sure its not factory - in that location a factory loom would be encased in solid plastic sheathing not spiral wrapped and the colors are wrong (multiples of the same color). The connectors are not the type Porsche uses either.

Interesting. Well there is an aftermarket alarm as well as factory immobiliser (or it may be other way round) so that would make sense.

I was also puzzled that the connectors were not the same as the original ones anywhere else on the car.

Almost disappointed that someone has been in that wheel well before me!

Connector to remote radar detector the PO removed. I found a Cobra remote on my 86 project car.
