Default Air / Smog pump Removal

Im thinking of removing my air pump while Im fixing my rover cover gaskets leak.
Its an August 1988 Australian Cats Model.

Is there any reason why I cant remove the pump and block the one way valve off and job done?

And what are the two pipes connected to the exhaust that pop up near the air filter housing??

Mine has a blue block off plug on each side.

Two pipes - CO test ports, probably rusted through (perhaps not on a recently imported car)

I removed all air pump plumbing and fitted plugs directly below the exhaust ports as shown in the pic. However that is easier to do when the heads are off.

I currently have the one-way valve blocked off and the smog-pump components long retired to the local 'landfill site'

No negative effects so far as I am aware... just less weight over the front axel

Hi Paul! What bolt sizes did you use as plugs? I've been meaning to remove the remaining plumbing and one-way valve, the same as you have done for some time now.....

They are not bolts as such, more like mini sump plugs, and they have their own 999 type Porsche part number, unfortunately I don't have a record of the actual number.
