TT Bearings
Hey Gang,
Brand new owner here, I'll post photos later. I am running into to my first challenge, TT bearings going, the howl is getting louder every time I take it out for a spin. This is something that I could do the wrench job on myself however my job is taking up more and more time, and I have less time to enjoy the car let alone time under it. What am I looking at regarding costs, (ballpark). This will not be going to the stealership, I have a competent 928 wrench, just have not had the chance to contact them yet. Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. '85 with Auto T.

Thanks Roger, that was what I thought it might be. I know I need to move on this, but how many more miles can I put on these bearings before failure. Current millage is 84,000K . We are talking about 30 miles a day as a daily driver.
I just did mine and had approx 130k on them. In the reading I've done here it seems that often the TT is OK but the torque converter housing bearings are the culprit. If you're gonna do one its probably be doing both. While you are in there it is a good idea to replace the AT pump o-ring and the tc input shaft seal.
Germantown is just northwest of Milwaukee, so 1hour 45 min. drive. Hold that thought, and let me speak with the porsche mech I am planning on using and see where he comes in at. Couple of cases of Hacker mmmmm tasty, not a scotch drinker myself but anything can be arranged.
