Default Supercharged 928 at Mid Ohio

I just wanted to post some of the footage from my recent track days at Mid Ohio. For those of you who haven't been there is is a great fast track with a lot of momentum carried from corner to corner. My intercooled twinscrew ran flawlessly for the two days, and now that I have a knock sensor in place on my 1985 and one of the J&S Safeguard "Vampire" units that controlls knock and allows me to dial in boost retard I am running 10 PSI of boost.

My best lap for the weekend was a 145.1 ......when I started there with the stock car 10 years ago on street tires I ran 2:04 - 2:06. It's amazing what some instruction and a few modifications can do......lol

I am starting my 4 th year of autcross and track events and have in excess of 20 days of DE events on the revised combination.

I apologize for the low resolution video.

But here are some other primer "pics"

Great video and driving! Your car reminds me of my former track car (now Abby's) being a red 928S with the same AIR wing mounted the same way with the S spoiler. Car looks really clean.

I hear your tires really complaining around the track. Are they DOT track tires and what sizes?

Nice job,
Constantine

The tires are Kuhmo Victoracer 700s. I'm running 315/35/17 on the rear on an 11 inch rim and 275/40/17 on the front on 9.5 inch rims.

In one of the later sessions I went up a couple of poundsof air on the fronts and they seemed to turn in better and complain a little less.

There were 3 new GT3s in the group.....I stayed with them for the first couple of run groups until they figured the track out then bye bye....

One of my friends who is an instructor and was in the red 928 that I caught in turn one (and got a little wadded up) was calling me the "Bully of B group" .

LOL.

Thanks for the comments.

Ah, Tim Westby's old car! YEA! That car used to follow me around the track...well, as long as it was dry! When it was wet he could not touch me (that was w/ my stock S4 btw)! LOL! Glad to see it still getting good track time!

Just watched the video...maybe not Tim's old car...I thought Tim's was an auto... Looked just like that one though w/ the same wheel/tire size and wing! Very nice! Clearly you were having a good time! YEA!

Hi James:

No not Tim's old car although I've chatted with him a couple of times. My car WAS an automatic when I bought it and after about 6 years of ownership I converted it to a 5 speed with a 2.72 limited slip. My car still has all of the street amenities and it would be real easy to lose 2-300 pounds. Just haven't taken the plung yet because it's so much fun to drive on the street.

Regards,

Ken

Ken,

Thanks for the info. That must the Westby cars TWIN then! WOW! COOL!

Guy here in Austin, took an S and stripped it down BIG TIME (still road LEGAL, but you really wouldn't want to drive it on streets much...he did NOT put a cage in it and I don't think even had a roll bar at the time) and he took out over 600 lbs! REALLY made a difference! He was a touch faster than me in my S4 like that! Of course he had 1000# less weight AND a manual trans, but still he was fast. Not nearly as fast as my race car though. Incidentally my GT car has either the 4.5L or a REALLY WEAK Euro 4.7L this guy had a good US 4.7L S...

Keep the rubber side to the road there Ken and ENJOY! I can tell you already are doing that!

James
