Default Unknown wires...yes another one ;-) - Solved

I am installing a navigation system today, and looking for the reverse signal on the CE panel. I come accross some loose wires and non-factory looking connectors. There are two connectors, one red, one white, and a wire that sorta looks like a antenna.

Does this look familiar to anyone? Amp? Alarm? Radar? Flux capacitor? Don't-know-thingie?

Pretty certain they aren't factory connectors.

Previous alarm/immobiliser installation ?
The antenna looking wire possibly for a remotecontrol for the above or for a remote central locking install ?

Looks like you need to play detective and find what (if anything) the other ends of the wires are connected to in order to suss out what they do/did.

+1, non-factory. Time to spelunk with the multi-meter.

All those connectors back there are aftermarket - figure out what they connect to... There should be no splices.

Anything not red connected to the top busbar is also suspect...

Do you know where to find the speedo signal? - you didn't need to take the panel out...

Hi Alan, thanks for the heads up. I'll try to trace the splices. For one, I believe they lead to the black box mounted over the CE panel and I have a feeling that's not factory either. I did have an aftermarket alarm installed last year, but these connectors look an older style to me.

I got the speed signal off the back of the cruise control unit and the reverse of U21 on the CE panel. That's where I noticed the loose connectors and loosened the CE panel to investigate further.

Wires in my first post and the splices and black wires as indicated by Alan lead to the black box mounted over the CE panel. Turns out it is my after market alarm

Aryan,
Thanks for posting the results. So many threads go without a conclusion that it frustrates me. Its like a good book with the last chapter missing.

I agree - and people offering advice might like to know if it was useful. That benefits us all.
