Wow Jeff, Nice job on the paint. Who did it? The only paint scheme I've see like that is on my KLEIN Mtn Bike. Klein Custom painted it. They Call it "Night Storm" Paint job. I'm new to 928 ownership, and tend to like more sedate paint on the 928S. But I can't wait to see it all finished up. I bet at night it looks wild!
Bset of Luck with it!

Okay, how about some more pics? What's going on with that thing? Looks interesting...

EDIT: Ah, okay, I followed your post history and found this: http://www.evalbum.com/736. That explains it! Very cool project, and apropos paint!

Very shiny.

What's the story behind the funky side mirrors?

Weight and aero. Sock mirrors weigh just under three lbs.(each), these weigh 8 ounces and have 1/3 the aero drag.

$1,200 maaco two stage urathaine and $1,200 local airbrush artist. Oh yaa and a lot of wet sanding and elbow grease, mostly theirs.

Wow, I've always heard Maaco didn't do good paint jobs but I have no experience with them--this looks pretty good. Part of the discouragement towards getting mine painted is the $3000+ quotes I get for 'body shop professional' paint jobs (that includes ME taking off the trim).

I like the Lightning- very realistic- kinda like the new "flame" jobs. The mirrors are completely out of character on the 9-2-8, though. They would look more @ home on a Formula V- or the like.
