Default Ripped Off! (missing headlight bucket - rv)

I jumped in the 928 tonight to make a Taco Bell run. When I flipped the headlights up I discovered someone had ripped off the headlight bucket on the left side.

If someone shows up automagically with a headlight bucket in Palisander Metallica to fit a 1981 shark tell them I want it back!

Grrrr.

Look in the fender well, it might have fallen off.

What is Palisander Metallica? I don't know how it would just fall off, but I'm making note to self, don't leave headlights up at Taco Bell. Seriously, I hope you find it in the well. Welcome to the forum.

Yeah... I agree... how and why would someone steal a headlight bucket?

Maybe they were really thusty and needed it as a water bucket?
Maybe the wife told him the SNL skit of "cone heads" really makes her hot?
Maybe it is a government conspiracy and they need nose cones for the new jets?

I dunno? Anyone else have an idea?

Didn't notice one of my buckets had lost both side retaining screws till I saw the poor bucket flapping about with headlights deployed in daytime. (T'was raining)
Lone top screw prevented shedding the bucket at speed.

The missing bucket might probably be sitting in the headlight cavity.
Pull up headlight by hand (gravity holds it down) and see if the bucket is still there.

I'm not going to make any KFC and Bucket jokes.

Thanks All for the hints (and the humor).

I did find it hiding in the front of the wheel well, along with one of the screws that was supposed to be holding it in place.

Checked the other side and found that cover was only being held on by the top screw and it was loose at that.

While poking around in the wheel wel I discovered a piece of tubing about 2" diameter by 2 feet long with an electrical connection and wires about midway along it. Neither end is connected to anything and no obvious place for it to attach to. Can anyone shed any light on what this is all about?

Thanks -

Outside temp sensor, which is attached to that tube, that should be attached to the alternator. The wires should be plugged in.

Alternator cooling hose.
Supposed to have once had been attached to the back of the alternator to the alternator shroud.

Hey! That's illegal! A Two-Fer on your 5th post.
Buy the books when you can, get some (more) tools, read the archives like a Biblical Scholar.
The journey begins.

Not that you haven't already checked this, but if you have screws backing out, be sure and check the C-clips that secure the head light mech to the actuator arm. These have been known (rare but really catastrophic to radiator) to go missing and allow the arm to pierce radiator.
