there is enough wear on my left cam gear that i want to replace it i was'nt thinking about marking them now my belt is off and the bolt holding both gears are loose so the gears may of moved from its original position no more than 1/8 to 1/4 if they moved at all i was told to loosen well belt was still on im not making more work than need be am I

 

If the gears have been loosened and moved you have altered the cam timing...I would check into PorKens cam tool to set properly.
