Default replacement ignition coil....where to buy...

Just wondering if the replacement coil is something I'm going to find at a local autozone or other parts store.

Probably not. Might be worth a look, though. Just don't go for any of the universal fit 12V ignition coils. If it isn't listed specifically for your car, don't buy it.

--OR--

Phone your favorite west-coast 928 parts supplier right now, and have new coils on your doorstep or your desk in the morning. 928 Int'l ships UPS next day and Fed Ex next day for another hour out here in the 3-hours-earlier timezone. You'll get the right part for sure, no drive, no waiting in line or wrestling with the bozos behind the counter at autozone.

It's the same P/N as a 1964 Alfa Guila Sprint GT, not that you will find one of those in your local parts shop. Call one of our great vendors and Rennlist supporters.

It does use two coils and 85-88 is one style 89-95 is another they use different wire configurations.

I went to auto zone, they had one according to their computer and it has the same type connectors for the ground and power leads but I failed to notice the connector for the coil wire is the same as the spark plug type where as my coil wire has the spark plug type on one end and a male post with a copper strip inside it's boot on the other end. Long story short I need a different coil wire now or order a different coil...I just called 928 international and missed them by a few minutes probably...

Damn my luck! I finally get the car back together after months of learning on the job repairing it and thought I checked everything before turning it over, but I didn't notice the one coil wire hanging loose under the passenger side coil and started the car.

I was so busy watching the PKNs'nr and the new timing belt and the new water pump and the radiator end tank welds and the oil pan gasket, trying to see if any of the new gaskets and seals were leaking etc. etc. that I didn't see it. Took it for a drive and thought Damn it lost power!...couldn't be the supercharger being off the car..way low on power.

Came back, checked things out, even advanced the cam timing then I found the wire loose and plugged it in...no difference....I guess not having any plugs connected pushed it over the edge.
So now it's running on 4 cylinders the other 4 pumping unburned fuel....no cats so no risk of fire but can't drive it anymore until I get the coil. Hopefully it is the only problem, the old coil certainly doesn't test right according to the WSM so I think I'm on the right track.

Any chance that unburned fuel hits the O2 sensors and takes one or both out? I drove about 20 miles total in two trips before finding the loose wire.
