Tampa/St. Pete mechanic?
Can anyone recommend a good 928 shop/mechanic in this area? I live in St. Pete, but my office in in Tampa near the airport, so either works.
I've had my S4 for a couple of months now and am getting antsy to drive it the way it's supposed to be driven. I need the TB tension checked and the tensioner oiled, and thrust bearing movement checked. I don't suspect either to be a problem. It's more for my peace of mind. I was planning to replace the alternator myself and install my RMB, but might as well have the mechanic do those too.
I work far too many hours, don't have a garage/lift, and (worst of all) the Florida heat and bugs are here and I am a northern sissy when it comes to that stuff. I scuttle in and out of the house like a cockroach in the summer. hah
Anyway, any recommendation would be appreciated. Someone told my wife about two places - D'Elegance Automotive in Largo and European Performance near downtown St. Pete, but I don't know anything about either of them.
Thanks much!

Now I don't know how up to date this list is but here is a link to Porsche 928 Mechanics
.
I guess if find someone you trust then I would suggest you get it added to the list so others may benefit from your experience.
Hopes this helps,
Cheers

Here are a few I can think of.
Eibell Performance 727-573-0911 in Clearwater
German Tech 727-547-0818 in Largo... I have gone to Joe numerous times and he always does outstanding work.
Mirek's European 813-891-9118 in Oldsmar they have a mechanical and body shop. Currently were my car is getting some body work done, ask for Dan
German Specialties 813-818-0993 also in Oldsmar.

JB Import auto. Just south of 5th ave north on 16th street. I've known the owner since I was 5. Their number is 727 823 5951. Ask for Mike or Jeff. Tell them George Appunn recommended you to them.

I'm a little late coming to this party, but their are two good shops I know of.
First (in St. Pete): European Performance - You already mentioned this shop in your post. This is the shop that I use for my '93 968. Very friendly and very knowledgable. Owners name is Micky Kramer.
930 4th Ave N
St. Pete, FL 33705
(727) 823-4685
Second (in Tampa) Vortex Motorsports: I have not personally used this shop but have heard good things about it. Our Local PCA DE instructor Rich Tillotson (another 968 and 911 owner) recently starting working with them or started a business venture with them.
5217 West Hillsborough Ave
Tampa, FL 33634
(813) 874-1911

I realize this is an old thread, but it was very helpful to me.
FYI, I called JB Import Auto to work with them for a timing belt change on my '88 928 S4 and they told me they would love my business, but felt another shop would service me better with the kind of work involved. They suggested European Performance for the work.
