Default Update.. 84 with option package D96 $3350 what is it?

Any of you know what this package included? It was a $3350 option on window sticker?

Let me know if you need a better picture.

Update.........Talked to PO, he said he special ordered this car. Said it was first one of the mid year break. He kept saying 84 and 1/2 model. Never heard of such a thing on the 84's but he said it was the first one that was 84.5.
The special order would explain D96 correct? He said it was not a package deal, he selected the options he wanted. Did they just code them D96 and charge him accordingly? Anything else I need to ask him?

The only other option group at that time was the Competition package which seemed to end in 83.
If it is your car we can check it out to see what its got over and above the normal options.
LSD could acount for a large chunk of the package price.
I do not remember seeing sport seats in your car though.

Thanks Rog. Will bring it to next GTG.

Merlin, only had 3 codes with CO2 being one, forget the other 2. Looked those up already, but the D96 does not show up on the list of availble codes.

My guess is the sunroof /leather seats , the basic "luxury" options as a package deal. Buy them together and it saved some money.

Sterling,

Seems like the last several months there have been several. Think Rog is praying real hard at night?

I know I read on here for 3 months or so just to get some background info and educate myself, and help me with my purchase. I wonder how many people do the same as I did that we never hear from?

Tried to set my timing yesterday and made things worse so pulled it back in. Any suggestions, I made a post.

Your car close? I know at last GTG you said it would not be long.

That's a pretty interesting options list...

Does that mean everyone else got the weak side doors and the uncomfortable right seat?

Cheers, Jim

US cars must always have 190 which is protection bar inside door even if its not listed in option list.

Comfort seat usually refers to non sport non option standard seat. In this case it can mean for example electrically adjustable passenger seat as there are no left side comfort seat listed.

Many of the options in Rixter's list are very likely part of C02 country code and not D96. I'm quessing these are actual D96 options.

158 Radio "Monterey" - 86 "Reno" - 87
418 Protective side mouldings
438 Comfort seat right
464 Without compressor and tire pressure gauge
490 Hi-Fi sound system
494 Amplifier system
498 Without rear model designation
533 Alarm system
650 Sunroof
912 Vehicle without identification plate

464 sounds somewhat strange in 928 context. Its very likely option code decoder don't have correct text for 928 in this case. But 464 will very likely have something to do with spare tire. Perhaps its tire puncture repair kit or something like that.

There were no tire puncture repair kits in 1984. They were introduced much, much, much later, and never an option in a 928.

Also, what is "Vehicle without identification plate"???

There is sure some weird stuff here, and it makes me wonder, if this is a custom order or even Euro delivery - the latter of which, I believe, would be another option code.

Another thought is that some of these codes might not be considered "options", but "manufacturing instructions"...

I wondered about special order, I have sent the family I purchased it from (one owner car) to see if this is a possibility?

Does have 6 way power seat on pass. side.

Could this be the James Bond edition prototype? Wondering if there is some hidden button, or voice recognition command I need to know for the machine guns to come out of the front end or something of the sort?
