I have an 82 US with a Borla and like the sound very mello deep tone at idle. Getting ready to remove certain pieces and put in a Y-Pipe from Roger (928srus) so I'm thinking it will be a bit louder.

I'll second the Borla cat back. Had it on my 82 and it sang!

I've done lot's of testing on the 16V exhaust back-pressure.

The best muffler system is Borla. Single 2 1/2 pipe more than enough for 16v na.

Magnaflow is not a bolt on but is just as nice as Borla.

For more HP use Roger's Y pipe into 2 1/2 cat. If a cat is not used then the bottom end torque falls off. It'll be a dog off the line untill 3000 RPM. 16V needs some back pressure for low RPM torque.
