I went a saw the car this morning and will post pictures later today.

It is a pretty car. There is a lot of clear coat problems and some scratches on the exterior paint. Wheels are nice (some scuffs) but missing the center caps. Front windshield was cracked passenger side fog light was out (not cracked but out).

Interior was not well kept. It had not been vacuumed and it looked like he had just armor alled the dash and pod. No cracks in pod or dash. All seats looked like they could use a good cleaning. There was wear on the drivers bolster with a small trear. There other interior parts were very nice. The stereo system was very well done. A very clean installation.

I don't think he is going to get what he is looking for (hell, what do I know?). Overall, I was disappointed. The exterior, if in better shape, would have made this car a winner. I also did not get good vibes from the owner. As an example, I ask where he had the timing belt and water pump work done and he could not remember the name of the place, just kind of where it is located. I ask who he bought the car from and he said he couldn't remember his girl friend with big t*ts was the one that talked to the PO. Apparently, the PO was so guy on the Home Shopping Network????? He would also not give me his cell to call him back on, just the same phone number in the craigslist ad.

As I said I will post pictures later. If there is anyone here that would like for me to check into this anymore I will be happy to. At this time I am not interested in this car.

Black 1990 with 2 stage paint? Hmm, I thought they were still doing single stage black back then. Either I'm mistaken or it's not the original paint (or it's not a clear coat issue).

Doesn't look too bad from the pics but the shady maintenance history would scare me. If he doesn't have any records of the work done you can write off the fact that it was done at all.

Paint definitely needs polishing and the interior could use a deatail.

Gio, I really don't know. I went to see the car because it was local. I have only seen about 4 -928 in town. I have never been able to look, see, touch another 928 except my own. I am a n00b, when it comes to 928s. It was a good education for me.

Helps me learn what to do and what not to do. For example, the inside of my car is spotless. Sure I need new front seats, unfortunately Paul who is just down the road is taking a time out. I will wait for his great work and have him do my seats. My paint and exterior is very good for a 26 year old car. I don't have half the paint problem he has and I have no swirl marks.

I would love to own a 32V, preferance being a GT. I will keep looking. It is out there.

The last thing my wife told me last weekend as I was leaving to see the car was "WE'RE not buying another Porsche today". My statement to her was "Why not?". I didn't hear the rest of her comment.

Just a quick update.

The owner just emailed me and has lowered the price to $12,000.

Asking prices are what people would LIKE to get ... what they would be happy to get. Car buyer's job is to make them less happy just not to the point of alienation. With real green cash held in front of their face most people will negotiate if not drive a couple blocks away wait 15 minutes and call them back. Because when he walked back in the house and told the wife that he turned down x $ in CASH SHE might have different ideas of the value. Always before you go see a car ASK do you have the title ? is it in YOUR NAME ? is there any reason that I can not pay you cash and drive the car away TODAY. If they do not have the title in hand (it is at the bank) there is no point seeing the car you can not BUY it and even less in negotiating as you just become the floor offer and anyone need only beat that to get the car.

I just saw a 1993 GTS auto on E-bay with a BIN of under $18K The odo is under 100K. Looks nice and the feed back is very good.

Better check the size of that engine... I suspect this is one that has been listed off and on for about a YEAR now! Check out that rear muffler position...NOT RIGHT! IF this is the same car that is down in Stafford, TX anyway...
