Break line replacment
I have a 1981 that has what looks like the original break lines. I have replaced the front ones. The back ones are giving me an issue. I have the old lines off but the copper fitting that has to go into the new line is seized up. If I try and turn it the copper tube turns. How do I break this loose so I can install the new line? I don’t know if I can use any penetrating oil on a break system to loose up the fitting. I don’t want to force and possible break the copper line. I really don’t want to replace the total line.
Thanks

Brake lines actually.
Leon.........yes you can use penetrating oil/fluids to release the fitting; also make sure your using the correct flare wrenches so as not to round the nuts.
You could also use some heat but IMO thats the last resort as you have to be very careful.

If you use some a heat from a torch, get things smoking but not melting, use PB blaster, should be sprayed on the fitting a few times, it may light so have a wet rag handy to put out your little bond fire as well as a fire extinguisher. then try to tighten the brake line fitting first then loosen it use a line wrench for maximum grip
It's not just on the early cars with this issue.
The wifes '90 had the drivers rear that would not come off and I had to replace the short line that came from the coupler to the actual brake line.
If worse comes to worse on the rears, just cut the damn thing and get a replacement from Roger.

Proper flare wrench and put some muscle into it. I've replaced many of them and I have yet to break a brake line, even when it feels like you're about to do some serious damage. Of course there's always a first time and replacements are cheap, so if you're already this far just give it a rip.

I replaced the brake lines in my car with the Goodridge package from 928 Int and yes getting the OEM lines off is a challenge but with the right tools and the advice above its a very doable project.

Thanks for all of the help. I will let the penetrating oil work in, and try some heat. if I did bend and break the line where do I purchase new ones? If I go that far I might as well replace all of them.
