I'm getting streak marks on the window tint (driver and door side). I'm pretty sure that I need to replace the worn parts inside the door that guide and lift the windows. Has anyone done this and is so what parts (#'s) should I replace?
(1986.5 S) Thanks.....

dont use the windows
Ok whats happening is the felt pads have gotten dirty. they collect dirt. and thus scratch the tint.
So you need to remove each door panel and then remove the felt pad that guides the window, you can either recover it or wash it , to wash it use some dishwashing soap and a fine tooth brush on the felt pads there are 2 per door and they are held in with one 5mm cap screw but you will have to remove the door panel first.
If you go the recover route go to the fabric store and buy the thickest felt you can get then with some good carpet glue refit new felt. i would try to clean the old stuff first,
The tint is always going to be streaked since its been cut by the dirty felt pads, only thing to do here is replace it after the felts have been fixed/cleaned

if your feltsa stay clean and they dont apply much pressure to the glass then your tint should last a while, also comensurate with window useage

I redid mine with new felt before I retinted the windows about a year ago. They started streaking again about 3 months ago. I thought this might happen so as a back up plan I bought tint that has a unconditional repalcement warranty. They will replace damaged tint, no charge, for the life of the car. As soon as the streaking gets bad enough I will take it in.
