Question Cam Bolt Question

The bolts on my right front bearing saddle were allen bolts (bolts on the right in the pic) different from the triple square bolts I found on the cam caps and other saddles.

In PET the cam cap bolts list as part number 999.218.023.02. I had ordered some new ones using this part number some time back and when opening them today noticed they were the allen bolts as in my right front bearing saddle. These allen bolts are about 1/4" shorter that the triple square headed bolts.

Should I proceed and used them in the place of the triple square bolts I stripped out when I removed the cams? The little voice in my head says NO.

(I just now noticed Pt. # 999.510.029.02 in () listed under the pt. # referenced above. I wonder, is this is the triple square headed bolt. It is listed as 5mm longer also)

Could someone confirm. Thanks

There's absolutely nothing wrong with using the allen head bolts, but they should be the correct length. I believe they are m8x40. I have changed all the bolts in both my 968s to m8x40 SS allen bolts, with 20k miles on mine since the swap and no problems. FWIW, and YMMV!
