Default Friggen INJECTORS!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Okay hoping to solve my slight warm start problem that Bill & I traced down to leaky injectors I had my injectors replaced with the newer 4 pintle design ford injectors....I bought these....advertised as a direct drop in for 928's

http://www.fiveomotorsport.com/Injec...sPORSCHEVW.asp

When I ordered the injectors the salesman said they were direct drop in with the correct larger lower O ring installed...

Instead of doing it myself I had my local mechanic who I trust 100% do it, since I was in a hurry for the track day on Monday and don't like messing with gas myself....

Well he calls me up yesterday and says its all installed but the car runs like ****....since he's a 1 man shop I go down there to take a look....I notice that once the car starts and runs like crap (won't idle at all, only runs rough with throttle applied) I hear a loud sucking noise that wasn't there before.....I check the injectors and they all spin pretty easy vs not moving at all before.....so the mechanic checks with a stethoscope and sure enough there is a vac leak on EVERY cylinder at the injectors.....

So I go on a wild goose chase trying to find the proper 16mm lower O rings.....can't find any in town......the owner of the place I bought the injectors from says he will ship me out the proper O rings and they usually put them in with the injector sets for 928's....but must have forgotten mine!?!?!?!?!?!

Since my injector seals are only 13k miles old I just reuse them to get the car running......

I pick up the car today and it runs REALLY well.....very smooth and that occasional miss at idle seems to be gone....power is still normal.... I haven't tried a warm start yet, but I'm sure its fine......

MORAL of the story.....ALWAY MEASURE THE LOWER O RINGS.....if they are not at least 16mm don't bother installing them.....

Recently changed injectors on S4 too (to cure the same warm start problem and it's been a complete fix - wow that car fires up nicely now!).

I got the single pintle Ford ones and trickiest part of job was replacing the small o-rings with the correct size rings taken from the injector repair kit. Very fiddly to snip off the original ones then roll on the new ones.

I don't envy you or your mechanic the extra work involved in disconnecting all the fuel lines again and making sure the new connections are absolutely leak-free.

I'm sure if you saw the amount of "labor" I paid him for you wouldn't feel sorry for him....I DON'T!!!! He quoted me 2.5 hours for the job.......assuming nothing went wrong.....it did go wrong so the bill was quite a bit over that!!!!

dont forget fellas that if you use the Dow Corning 111 non setting silicone sealant on the O rings they will stay soft and they are easier to install/ remove, Get yourtube now at
Motorsport in Utah. PS the Mechaninc that was working on your car probably wasnt aware of the difference in the O rings he should have atleast test fitted one to the intake manifold, then you wouldnt have had these problems,

The O rings you got were probalby a direct fir for the early 32Vs. If you old ones were in good shape and are in the car already, don't bother changing them again, just keep them as spares.

This is the plan.....the "old" ones are under 4 years 13K miles...still felt fine....firm but pliable..... I'll keep the new ones when they come in.....

I'm thinking about sending in my old injectors to witchhunter to have them rebuilt-resealed just to keep as spares...or sell to someone local that might need them...
