Post Windshield replacement

Hey, folks. Anyone ever used Able Auto Glass in Houston for a windshield replacement? They've found a windshield and are trying to find out if it's Sigla or Sekurit...I've read in past posts to avoid Pilkington.

They've also suggested replacing the molding, and have already gotten parts prices from the local dealer. It's actually just an extra $120 or so (parts), so it seems to make sense.

Any other advice welcome.

Turns out the glass is Sigla. Other's have commented that Sigla is the way to go, so I went with Able...just waiting for glass and trim to show up.

Any other comments, or gotchas to look out for are welcome.

Michael,

I just replaced my windshield with a dealer supplied Sigla (original supplier for the 928) after exhausting all less expensive leads found in the Rennlist archives, I also came to the conclusion that Sigla is the only manufacturer that still produces 928 glass, all the major auto glass co's in my area said it's no longer available, other then getting it from the dealer. Dealer list: $900, PCA member cost: $680 (windshield without antenna & with tint). My guess is that Able is getting it through the dealer. Good luck, you'll love looking through brand new clean glass.

Yeah, fresh glass, no cracks...it'll be nice. Thanks for the confirmation on the Sigla thing. I'll try to remember to post the results.

Hey, Thom...sorry about the incredible delay. I was busy getting ready for a trade show in LA, then gone to LA, then rushed home because my wife had a wreck...in a brand new car!

Anyway...I'm letting insurance pick up most of it, but when I first called, I was told the glass itself was around $400. I'm assuming that was not installed. Once I said it was an insurance claim, the price was never discussed again.

Again, my apologies for an extremely late reply.
