His lock guy got in. The problem with lifting the car and going in from under, or in the front, etc, was that the car was running! No way would I lift and/or crawl under a running car. I emailed him the early Rennlist thread showing the 2" hook into the window procedure. He printed it out, gave it to the lock guy, then they were finally able to open it up (hooray for R-List - I'm sure we'll be seeing my friend here soon!) He only had speaker damage from what he saw...

Again the easy way to make a car stop running is drop down the metal pan at the rear of the gas tank ( all but very early cars ) and unhook a wire to the fuel pump.

There are two ways a locksmith can get into your car:

1) Put spacers between the window and window seal and use the correct hook-shaped tool to reach under the lock protection plate and unlock the car.

2) Put spacers and then inflatable bags of increasing size around the door frame, eventually creating a large enough gap between the door and the car to insert a tool that turns the door unlock ****.

But the best idea might be to have a spare key BEFORE you get locked out or misplace the only one you have...
