This is good stuff, Hacker. That is one reason I bought this tool, to dial it in ...then dial it up.

Btw, has anyone dialed in their 16V Euro? I'm looking for some good start numbers for once my belt is broke in.

Great writeup, thanks.

Umm...that still makes 1-4 right and 5-8 left side..or not??

Yes. I should finish my coffee before posting.

Photo is fixed, too.

Porken.

I am about to adjust my timing it is now 0-0 I wanted to get it spot on -2-0 but reading your posts you mentioned 3 adv on an auto. Since I have an 86 5-Speed with a S/C should I mess with advancing the timing for more lower end or set it to factory specs. You hot and cold picture is very reveling which means my pass side once warm is +2-0, odd how the drivers side does not change only the passenger side.

Thumbs up

Shane,
It seems like only yesterday when a rosy-cheeked, ice covered, Mukluk wearing, power station lad from the wrong end of the Aluetians made his first post....
Now..... I wish I had the resources to become a true HP **** like you.
Jeez Shane, if you have trouble making time for each of your sHARKs ... I'd be glad to keep the engines warm for you here in warm/dry Texazz, of course.
Watching the 86.5 with great interest.

Thanks John!!

Yes it does seem just like yesterday when you were schooling me on my need to upgrade Heidi with bigger brakes and some exhaust modifications.

And then again with the 2nd/3rd gear troll for the unsuspecting mustangs... Good times...

These cars are so addictive and fun that as soon as I had a boosted shark there was absolutely no turning back from the abyss. I lost Heidi to the flames in 2005, and it took me 3 years to get back to that point again in aquiring Beth and getting her supercharged. Now that that is done I can slowly get Helmut and Zelda PMed and on the road to being boosted as well. Time and Money...

Advancing raises the compression, so I don't think it would be good for supercharging. I really don't know how/if advancing helps a NA manual car. I keep telling Honey Bunny that I need one for 'research'.

With supercharging, zero or 2° retard would be where I would start, since I don't know any better, but you really have to test this stuff on the dyno.

I reckon the engine grows more widthwise, not top to bottom, so the driver's side is moving more in an arc, whereas the passenger side is moving outward?

I lost to a (boosted, NOS'ed?) 98-02 Camaro/Firebird the other night. On paper, my S³ dynos like a stock LS1, and I kept up with it at lower speeds, but suddenly he just up and passed me.

Maybe we should pull that lump with the twinscrew out of Heidi and send it down for you to play with on your shark...

Hmmm...I am going to change the motor mounts here soon.

I can come up to the rancho S³hane and we can drop that in right? Put it up on the lift, and... Oh, snap, I forgot, not everyone has a lift.

I am really, really trying to focus (not my strong suit) on making a variable valve timing system to see if that will help the auto's low rpm weakness. If can't get that to work, or it doesn't help, then I'll have to get a 5-speed on the side, and/or a boost method.

The main sticking point for PKVVTS is belt length, which requires a new water pump solution.
