Carlisle Import Weekend
Just wondering if anyone else who isn’t going to be able to make it down to SITM was planning on dropping by Carlisle the weekend of the 16th-18th for this year’s import show? I’d love to make the trip down to NC with y’all, but since I have to be up here at the hotel to work the show crowd anyway, figured I’d try to bring up the Shark instead of the Jeep for my hours off.
Having never been to this show since it’s my first year living in Carlisle, is there anyone that might be familiar with the event and know whether there’s a strong 928/Rennlist/Porsche in general representation? I’d definitely enjoy meeting anyone from the boards that might be around – if you are, drop me a line!
For anyone that might be planning on attending and is in need of lodging, the Days Inn & Suites of Carlisle still has availability, but those rooms are quickly dwindling. Ask for me (D.J.), mention you’re from Rennlist, and I can set you up with a discount if I’m around when you call.
To everyone making the trek down to SITM, have a safe trip and a great time! Hopefully I’ll be joining everyone next year, but for now, at least I have something to look forward to after all the fallout from the Custom Compact (*cough* ricers *cough*) Nationals...

Well, the Custom Compact Nations (this past weekend) marked the largest and most prominent assemblage of vinyl stickers, epilepsy-inducing paint, alleged V-TEC and coffee cans this side of the U.S. And yes, the good people at Carlisle Events have decided to do away with the 2004 show. Two State Police helicopters were assigned to patrol the area, along with an enormous ground-based police presence...didn't do a thing to deter them, but our local law enforcement agencies practically paid their salaries with the ticket revenue they raked in. (You should have seen what they did to the hotel by Sunday morning...we only had two security guards scrambling around, and we couldn't find a police agency that took under two and a half hours if our lives depended on it…and at points there was speculation as to whether or not it might)
The Import-Kit/Replicar Nations is more geared toward the European market, as I understand it. Hopefully a couple people of the Porsche persuasion are planning on making it over...

If you don't get enough on Saturday, you can always come over to the Hershey Park parking lot where the Central PA Region PCA will be holding our next AutoCross. Almost a mile of twisting thru the cones. Uses the same lot as the Great Central PA Swap Meet. Have to go around the Giant Center to get in. Date May 11, 2003, 8:30 a.m.
