Post Looking for Dallas area mechanic

Hi. I'm a new lister and new owner of a 1990 S4. Does anyone have a recommendation for a Dallas (Texas) area shop/mechanic ? Looking for a good one to perform thorough inspection and some immediate and long term servicing. Also, the car came from California (has the C30 option code). What are the specific differences between the C30 and non-C30 cars ?
Thanks, Howard

Give Rick @ The Porsche Store a try; he has lots of experience w/ front engined Porsches. I think he's the service manager. Also Scott's Autohaus in Georgetown (I know it's quite a haul, but 928 knowledgeable mechanics are not common) 512) 930 1238. Last, sign in to yahoogroups, dfw928 for a good source of local info.
Best regards,
Donald

I agree with Snowball - I don't even say the words "Park Place" around my car or something bad will happen! Horrible place!

I also agree with Donald that Rick @ The Porsche Store is a good guy! I met him when he did my last alignment (I "interviewed" him for a good half hour before turning over my car to him). He has been working on 928's since the beginning. The Porsche Store seems to be a pretty good operation and they are beginning to slowly change my view on dealers.

Depending what I need worked on I will use different shops. I've heard good things about Zimm's in Bedford but have only bought parts from them. Steve Louden does good work but takes a long time and charges $$$. He has a good 928 mechanic but he (Steve)really doesn't like you to get involved although he will let you in the back to check out your car while its being worked on if you push hard enough. He also does great tire/wheel work (really the only place I've found that doesn't damage wheels) and has the most extensive collection of correct fasteners I've ever seen. Very important to us **** car owners - nothing worst than having 5 different size screws holding your belly pan on!
