Does such a wheel exist that is reasonably priced, or should I just stop dreaming? It would be so nice to be able to put 255/35-18 tires in the front without messing with the fenders...

anything is possible with custom wheels.......BUT the boxster 9" rears tend to be lower offsets typically under 50mm...... It seems the highest offset factory wheel you can get now is the 57mm 8" wheels.... The hot setup in custom rims is the 9.5" front with 8" backspacing or a 69.8mm offset that will clear 255's no problem and will allow up to almost 285's with fender rolling

Several Porsche OE 993 wheels are available in 8" with et 70 offset, I know the Cup II wheels in 17" are, and perhaps others in 17" & 18" are as well. They are designated as "Winter" wheels, and are very rare - perhaps folks in Canada, Sweden, etc. are more likely to have them.
I have two sets of 17 X 8" et 70 Cup II wheels. One set is on the GTS, and another is available for purchase - but are not cheap!! I'm in no hurry to sell them, as they are the best high offset wide OE wheel available in 17" - in my opinion. With the 1/2" wider wheel and the 5 mm greater offset, the center of the tire is within ~1 mm of the location with the OE GTS wheels that are 7.5" and et 65. This keeps the scrub radius essentially the same during turning, and tracks the same as the OE wheels.
Go into PET and search every year of 993, 996, Boxster, etc. for wheels. That's how I found the Cup II "Winter" wheels.

To get exactly 9x18et65, you'll need to get a custom wheel, cheapest of which is probably a CCW at $2400-$2800, depending on style.
If you're willing to compromise to 8.5x18, there are a few BBS wheels at ET56 and a bunch of others at ET52 & ET54 that should fit. *edit* on second thought 255's on 8.5x18et52 isn't going to work. ET56 maybe.

I was looking at a set of CCW wheels that are in the rennlist classifieds. The offsets are perfect for my 928. Are you familiar with these wheels, and are they a good road wheel?? TIA

A bunch of people I know have them for their street/track cars and swear by them. Service is supposed to be really good. They were initally popular w/ the Vette & S2000 guys but they've become more & more common on Porsches, particularly now w/ their one-piece forged wheel.

There's a pretty comprehensive list of standard Porsche wheels/part numbers/weights here:

Gary- I'm with you on the Cup II's, although what I'd really like are a pair of 17x9ET70 Cup II's from the rear of the 993 (993.362.128.01), to be used on the front of my GT. Pair this with the stock rear 17x9ET55 from a GTS, and I'd have 9 inch widths at all four corners. Goodbye understeer!

evidently Cayenne rims work as well. Iv found many 17s, 18s and 19s from 8-10 wide with large offset and they tent to be wicked cheap on ebay. The cups look good but are becoming mainstream and Im one for just a hint of personalization without looking too aftermarket.
