Post No headlights!

Hi all,
Over the past few weeks I've had this occur several times. Sometimes my headlights go out for no apparant reason.
While driving through a rainstorm a few weeks ago they suddenly went out. I retracted and opened them several times but they still remained out.
Saturday night I had to leave my car at a restaurant overnight because of the same reason. The next morning the lights worked fine when I rushed back at daylight to pick up my "baby".
I've checked everthing I could think of and all seems fine. This reminds me of my old Triumph Spitfire days( just the headlight part, definately not the accelaration).
Can anyone suggest what this problem may be?

You need to start by checking all of the ground points. I have listed all of the major ground points however there are still component grounds that are laid in through out the system.
PS. I am still looking for some of these myself.

Ground point locations
1: Battery negative pole to body in trunk at rear left.
2: Ground points above fuse and relay box.
3: Engine ground to body on right side member.
4: Ground point on front left cross member.
5: Ground point on front right cross member.
6: Ground point under instrument panel on steering column support.
7: Ground point in trunk at rear right underneath side trim panel.

Joel,
Be sure to clean the fuse contact points too, Left and right headlights are on different fuses. At State inspection, my right headlight did not come on. Turned out to be the fuse connection between the contact points. Hope this helps.

Joel - If you've checked all the fuses and cleaned the contacts to no avail. it may be the headlight relay (XIX-XX). My headlights would go up and down. Fog lights and high beams worked but no lo-beam headlights. The relay isn't cheap if I recall. Good luck!
