I've got a 64 Corvette small block that still has points and a condenser. Had a Pertronix in it from the PO when I got it, but the car never ran right. Also, there was the concern that on a long trip, the local parts store might not have a replacement if it went bad, and they're prone to going bad. Swapped back to the 'ol tried and true method, and it hasn't let me down. Ever.

My 1st 4 Pcars had P&C and carbs. Spent many a day off filing, regaping, and synchronizing. Those labors of love are gone; now I've become an electrical engineer/troubleshooter!

This is about as bare is it gets except for one work space that has a sheet of plywood with wires strewn about and a V12 set of headers on the floor.

Great pics! FWIW, carbs almost drove me insane in the 70s. I remember rebuilding a Rochester 4GC on my Cutlass about ten times before it finally ran right, quit leaking, and got over 10 mpg.

Nostalgia aint what it used to be, is it? As usual, towards the end of their lives, some of the old bits got to be very nicely developed - throttle spindles with good bushes, and leather seals to prevent air leaks, SU float bowls that didnt leak, distributors with rubber bits to stop the bob weights clicking at idle, the list goes on.
