Post headlight problem

I have a problem with my drivers side headlight It seems that the light moves front to back excessively. I looked at the passengers side light and along the bottom of the light is a metal stop. The metal casing which holds the light rests on this. On the drivers side it doesn't touch and allows it to move to much with a back and forward motion. I noticed some type of actuator arm along the bottom of the light which goes in and out could this be the problem? I have a 1984 Euro. My question is simple what's wrong? Also the **** that adjusts the light does not work, if that matters. Thanks Sal Randy, I looked at your previous posts, and checked all the bolts and springs and they are fine.

On my 85, I had a similar problem. If you take the cover off, there is a mechanism that will allow for a "breakaway" should something hit the headlight. You can see it (pin and cuplike) on the bottom of the assembly once you have the cover off. Gently pull the light downuntil it snaps back in place. Hopefully it is something that easy.
