Talking New 928 owner - Hello everyone!

Hi everyone,

I just bought my first 928 and had to write in and tell you how awesome it is! I have had a 911 and 2 951's, but this is a different beast altogether. (After all, its a shark).

It is a 1986.5 928S, black on black,
5-speed, 60,000 miles, and bought from the ORIGINAL OWNER! A nice bonus was that, when I went to pick it up, I found out that it also has the limited slip option. Ok, so its not a GTS or S4, but as far as I'm concerned, the car has the 'holy grail' of options! This is by far the best Porsche that I have owned yet.

I will miss the kick in the pants that the 944 Turbo gave me, but this is a more sophisticated automobile all the way around. It will take me a while to upgrade it the way that I want to: wheels, Koni coil overs, sway bar, RMB, Cat bypass, supercharger - the list goes on and on. But at least with this car, it is a pleasure to drive in its stock form. I don't feel that I have to rush out and improve it a whole lot.

That's all I have to say, but I am excited to be on this new board and I wanted to say 'hello'.

Regards,

-Michael ORIGINAL OWNER !

Thumbs up

Mike,
Welcome and congratulations on purchasing your Shark !!!
Having never owned a 911, or, any other Porsche for that matter, I can't honestly do a comparison. However, I can say since picking up 'Pattycakes' -named after my mom-
I have not been dissappointed in either the looks, handling, performance departments.
Prior to purchase I checked darn near every site on the WEB, clubs to individual. Sifted thru parts availability, car lot sales, private owners, and the E-bay/yahoo auctions.
There are still alot of Sharks out there but like split window 'vettes' and Jensen Interceptors you seldom see them. So I'm determined to keep mine a running, shining,
daily driver. I spent several grand flying around the country in search of a 1986 1/2 over 7 months and was regularly disappointed
in the condition of the "mint condition, show room condition, immaculate, religiuosly maintained, flawless " Sharks out there.
I finally ran across a 1982 Weissach, Auto.
4.5L and drove it from San Diego to Midland,TX in 20 hours straight including the loss of two hours - time zone changes and one flat tire -.
All 928's are lookers so get used to being tailgated by EVERYONE trying to eyeball you.
Additionally, there seems to be a lot of testosorone out there so everything from soccer moms in vans and SUV's, the occasional Aries 'K' car to hot rods and the hordes of Camaro's, Firebirds and Stangs will want to see what you got! Keep in mind your Shark is very capeable but Is at 15+ years old and things will happen. Vac lines, clutch, electical, and the dreaded flapper valve sticking. Don't race em' all but make your presense felt. Your plans for upgrades sound good keep us posted as you apply those cash improvements. I, personally, will be looking for a project car (5.4L) to develope into a club/street racer. Its name will be RAMPAGE. The search has already begun.
When you apply the supercharger Mod post the installation procedure and performance results as I for one will be waiting for the news!
Again, welcome to the Ren forum - good stuff here- . Keep the Shark rolling
Later
