Well that's my 5spd now officially written off and The negotiations have started over it's value... I hate this stuff.
You could help me out with some idea of the scrap value of a wrecked 928. I'm sure I would recover more value by retaining the car and stripping off a lot of the parts I have replaced/added over the last year. I'm just needing an idea of how much of a drop in the settlement price I should accept if I do this.
Cheers
Dave

A bit more info on this subject. A couple of UK porsche breakers yards have said that the scrap value is roughly 15% to 20% of a cars straight value.
So as I am claiming for a value of £8000 ($13400), this gives a scrap value of £1200 to £1600 ($2000-$2675). Does this sound reasonable?
Cheers

Well dave a badly damaged GTS manual was sold about 12 months ago now and it went for $8000 AUD so that percentage sounds about right. Good idea to keep the bits you've changed. Manuals are rare but you would already know that. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

Dave
Sorry to hear of your misfortune
Wouldn't you be better off asking the UK & GB lists, as ROW values dont apply ? If you havent got a classic agreed value policy you might struggle to get £8000 & a buy back of £1000 max sounds more like it.
Good luck

Hi martin,
Yup, you're right I should post more on the UK lists, I've got out of the habit as I found them quite hard work. their balance of social/automotive postings is reversed in comparison to rennlist. Fine if you live near london, but not so useful from glasgow.
Cheers
