Post ABS Problems

I was wandering if any ABS guru(s) can help me out.
The ABS light seems to go on whenever I drive over a decent bump on the road and stays on until the car is turned off. On restarting no ABS light and ABS works well.
I'm thinking that there is a loose connection to one of the ABS units but I am not sure where to start and where all the ABS components are located.
Also if anyone has had this problem, was there a solution?
(The wheel sensors have been cleaned in the past when ABS was not working at all, and the cleanup solved that problem.)
Any help appreciated.

Jim:
The ABS system is usually a quiet "leave me alone" system. Occasionally, the sensors get loaded up with metal filings, but a quick wipe and they're usually 'almost' as good as new. Another problem that occurs is the ABS pump getting stuck due to particles in the brake fluid. If the fluid is replaced every two years (or sooner), that problem usually doesn't occur. YMMV.

Anyway, your problem sounds like a bad connection. There is only one wire to each wheel that can get loose. I would inspect each of them and tighten any I found. Good luck.

My '87 had similar symptoms. Turns out that the little brackets that hold the connectors to the steering knuckle had broken. Replaced those brackets, and no ABS problems since...
