How would your 928 be different, if you could buy again?
#16
I don't see anything in the poll that rings true, so I guess I'd say "nothing". But if I had to do it all over again, I'd never buy one off of eBay sight unseen. I did, and consider myself very lucky that it worked out. I'd never do it again.

There was no option for a supercharged GT in the poll After owning my '86 (which was a 5-speed w/ LSD) for 8 years, the only thing I would do different is buy a 928 with a supercharger/turbo already installed, since I was planning on installing one myself. And then, voila, the opportunity presented itself and the rest is history.
And I never really understood the attraction to the GTS. Yes, it has nice flared rear quarters, but lots of them burn a quart of oil in 1k miles. A QUART!? And the owner's manual says it's normal. And they have an extremely high compression ratio which pretty much means you're stuck with 345hp unless you want to do some $$$ engine work. With so many forced induction options around, the slight increase in power the GTS brings is peanuts. That, and then there's at least a $10k premium over a GT.

Nice point about the compression ratio and boosting.
Another thing to add to 90 and earlier cars that made a real nice difference is the 91 or GTS shift ****! WOW this thing is bitchin! I love the way it feels! The one i have is classic grey but since i have the materials to dye it now I will recolor it black. But the feel of the **** is a big improvement! I suggest it to all that have a 90 and newer 5 speed!

I voted based on buying my first 928: I'd pay more for a better condition car upfront.
And that's exactly what I did for my second 928! So now it's more like "I wouldn't change a thing." Of course it's had its problems too, but is a very nice car that is soooo good to drive. I learned from my mistake.

I have had lots of 'issues' with my car, but through it all, I don't think the amount of time, money and effort I've put into it has equalled what it's worth to me right now.
I wanted a car I could drive every day while improving it and I got that.
Maybe I'd get one with a little better interior, but I've enjoyed doing the work on that and it's the main reason I got such a great deal on a good strong running '85.
Still wouldn't change a thing!

I'd look for one with no sunroof. After reading on here so much, and the Porsche club magazines, I'd really like to try autocross, maybe over the road racing and such. But I'll never be able to fit in with a helmet on; I tried, with my motorcycle helmet, and I'm wedged into the roof with my neck all scrunched up uncomfortable. Oh well.
