Should this port on my 1980 US air filter housing be hooked to something?

Thanks...

Mine is not. I think certain model years have a hose hook-up. On my 86, the port was never opened, and nothing hooks up to it..

if this port is open in the housing then you need to plug it ,as its open to outside unfiltered air. The aircleaner should be positioned so the rise is visible and goes away from the intake to increase the size of the filtered part of the intake housing, Good catch Ro

Pre-86, that port is connected to the carbon cannister, if equipped.

Late 86.0/86.5 there is an addition steel vapor line which goes all the way back, and dumps behind the rear bumper. The air filter port is undrilled.

Now that the filter is dirty, don't turn it back over!
