Post I need help!!!! :)

Hey all i am a newbie to the rennlist. This was my 1987 Porsche 928 S4 wheni bought it in october of 2000.
<a href="http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/smurf00blueguy/vwp?.dir=/Porsche+928&.dnm=1987_91.jpg&.src=ph&.view=t&.hires=t" target="_blank">front</a> <a href="http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/smurf00blueguy/vwp?.dir=/Porsche+928&.dnm=1987_92.jpg&.src=ph&.view=t&.hires=t" target="_blank">back</a>

I drove it for 3 months. Around january 21 of 2001 i was on my way to school. as i crested a small hill i slid on the snow that was on the side of the road. i Ended up fishtailing and running into two pine trees. totaly nixed the body work. This is what she looks like now.

Pretty bad huh. Well its now 2003 and the car has been sitting at the guys repair shop for 2 years. to make a long story short he was paid 10,226 by the insurance company to fix the car. he satlled for about 6 months then he went bankrupt and moved shops. Well he listed me on the bankruptcy(sp??) so we lost the 10,000 from the insurance company. Well at his new shop he kept telling me he would fix it. well this went on till about 2 months ago till i went down and said look are you gonn afix it or not. well not exactly that but somethign along those lines. Well he finnaly gave an honest answer and said no. well i planned on getting it towed back to my house but i got busy at work, and the next i made it down there was today. Well lo and behold someone happend to steal the rims and tires off of it. Werid huh?? not.. HIs excuse was he tried to call me but didn't have a number to reach me at, which is BS if u ask my opinion. Oh, he also said he tried to file a police report but they would not let him because he was not the owner. I'm not sure if that is BS. but anyways, I took the winter tires from my roomates 996 and put em on the 928. I called a tow company and it is being towed back to my house as i type this. Well my question is this, The car runs even though it has been sitting for 2 years which is amazing. the tranny resivor is cracked supposedly so it does not switch gears and the interior is in bad shape from where the radio was stolen also. What should i do. should i attempt to repair it, or just sell it? I love the car and i hate to have it go, but due to past experience i dont trust any body shops. Does it look to be that hard to fix? i know it will need alot of work (new body kit, rims, wipers, interior etc..). My other problem is i have no idea where the body kit was made so any help in identifying it would be helpful ( A plaque in the car says E.F Widebodys ??? never heard of em though). OH and if anybody on here is from the columbus area any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks for your time.

Cheers,
NIcholas

P.S. If this message sounds incoherent and jumpy i am sorry i hate typing and all my thoughts are runnign together as i try to get everything out...

Smurf...That is one SAD tale...

Your pics are not available - they must be in some private file. When clicking on the link - I get an error messgae:
The File You Are Looking For Is Inaccessible.
Please sign in and try again or check with the owner of the file.
BUT -from the sound of things - you're gonna spend around $10k to begin to get her going...PLUS the cost of new tires/wheels.

Post the pics and we'll see what the board says.
If you want - you can email them to me at cicmark@aol.com and I can upload them to the Rennlist server as a member.

OH MY GAWD....I think we get a RENNLIST posse together and go kick some body-shop-owner-***!
GREAT looking ''before' pics!

Here are the links:
<a href="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/1987_91.jpg" target="_blank">http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/1987_91.jpg</a>
<a href="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/1987_92.jpg" target="_blank">http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/1987_92.jpg</a>
<a href="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/928Wreck01.jpg" target="_blank">http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/928Wreck01.jpg</a>

The others were too big to upload...I'll shrink them later when I get a chance...suffice it to say - the on pic of the wreck tells the story...

Ok...

Looking at the pics, it might not be that bad.

It actually looks repairable.

If you were trying to replace the body kit, good luck, because I have *never* seen one like it, and I have pictures of almost every 928 body kit out there. It looks kinda cool though... Really unique rear spoiler.

Anyhow, I have done bodywork before, and I think that damage *is* repairable. It will not be "filler-free", and it will not be perfect, but those dents do not look too horrible. And the fiberglass is damaged, but can be reformed in the broken areas. You will need to be sure the door still closes. If the frame is bent at the door latching point, you are screwed. The front fender may have to be replaced, or at least a part of one grafted to it... It will still probably cost you a couple thousand for the body repairs, and then paint. Then you will need new wheels and tires. In the end, it will probably cost you about $5000 to get it back on the road. Oh yeah, and an alignment, and check out all the suspension for damage...

Bummer...

The details are a bit murky, but insurance fraud seems to be somewhere in the mix.

Your image links are toast. Click on the little 'paper & pencil' icon within your original post to edit it and fix the links.

Side note: That is one of the downsides of getting a body kit. When you crash, you can't just call 928 International, and get a used fender... You have to rebuild it from scratch, if the body kit company is not around anymore...

First of all, get a shotgun and some really big friends and go to the repair shop.

Nevermind.

I'd sue em up and down over this.

Or I'd burn the place down.

so no luck with identifying the body kit, any luck with the wheels, I think they are z racing? they were 17 x 10 in the rear and 17 by 8.5 in the front i think don really remebr since it has been so long since i looked at em. The 996 rims that are on there now just don look as cool for some reason. they look to skinny for that car hehe.. It looks liek the rims and tires u see on a GEO. If that makes sense. hehe. yeah i would like to go kick some body shop owner ***, I can;t sue them because of the bankruptcy and me being listed as a creditor. or so i was told anyway.
