Post Electric locks...

TIA

Can someone tell me what the central locking control unit looks like so I can find it in the console. Tring to get the electric locks to work. If I can get as much info as I can I might make myself dangerous.

Cool

John, I belive if you remove the Driverside, side panel from the center console it will be the the black box, approx. 3x3x3/4 that is sitting along the edge. It is actually very easy to get to because its right there and the bracket that it is mounted to is also the same bracket that the side panel screw goes into. At least it is on my 85'.

John,

Every now and again I had trouble with my electric locks (key would mechanically lock door but would not electrically lock the other door). Finally I realized that if the interior light never came on when I exited the car, the locks would not work. I never bothered to try to understand it(the whole X-relay thing probaby) so I used contact cleaner to fix the door switches and now the locks always work.

Well,

I have owned this shark for over a year. I never worried about the locks not working when I purchased the shark, because there were bigger fish to fry.

I opened up the door panels first left than right to start diagnosing the problem per the manuals. Guess what I found?? or did not find?? THE FREAKING PO removed the locking controls. Both of them.

I had more than one kind word to say for him. He should of put a sign in there "GOT YA AGAIN!!!".

Well, the best part of this is I did install the door locks I had from my donor shark. We are in business. The locks work. But ran out of time due to tonight. Girlfriend loves the shark, she absolutely loves reading about the wife horror stories.

I won't add this in for my repairs for last year. I'll wait for this years maintance log.

Hope everyone enjoys the New Year.

Well,

Lets try one more question on this post.

My locks lock by themselves (They automatically cycle to this default position).

Can anyone lend me some insight? I just can't seem to find the problem.

Lock controls move smoothly and properly, lock cylinders move smoothly, nothing binds.

I will answer my own problem for further reference. First of all, I was working quickly to go out last night.

I found my problem. The locks work perfectly now. Lets say I screwed up, and did not align the controls at the lock position during installation.

I removed the controls, corrected the control position to the locked position, removed control wiring connector, installed the controls, locked the door lock, then aligned the control so that the retaining **** from the lock slips right onto the contorl rod, tightened the control to door, hooked up wiring connector, cycled door locks. Bahdah Bing Bahdah Boom.

I feel dumb, but I did find it.
