I all ready have the Locktite 574, we have never used that at the shop, but we have used a lot of the Volvo and the MB Anaerobic sealant.

I knew I was going to take the Girdle and crank off, I was thinking of re-using the old bearings, now that i see how that looks when I write it, it sounds foolish.
Yep. Though you were trying to decide whether to open up the bottom end. No brainier to replace the mains if you opening it up.

The only reason I was thinking about not doing the mains was that was just one more place to introduce a problem.

What started out as just a simple head gasket replacement has turned into a full blown engine rebuild.
