Does anyone make a short shift kit for a 928? The throw is quite long, maybe someone has modified theirs to reduce the throw?

Def,
a lot of folks have cut down the shifter...most by about an inch although I think some have done more to get to a more GT "length" shifter. This is supposed to help a lot in terms of shortening the throw. Check Greg Nichols tips site for a writeup. I think it was Wally P who pointed out that when you shorten the throw you also reduce the mechanical advantage so if your car shifts hard or tends to 'stick' in gear, you will have to use more muscle with the shortened stick.

Jim is right - It's the old fulcrum / leverage thing...
But hey, a few weeks on a deserted island with only an old Playboy mag would cure that!

Def, I have a Euro 79 that I modified the shifter length. I cut off about a 1" or 1-1/2" Cant remember now. The throw is considerably shorter and feels good. I also replaced the two rubber or hard plastic bushings in the rear shifter coupler near the tranny. Mine were worn and creating slop in the shifter. You might want to check those out. Pretty easy to get to and replace. Since you can not purchase the two bushings seperate, i made two out of aluminum. Worked very nicely and feels firmer than the other stuff. It will probably last longer also. Also you might have some play in the forward shifter ball and cup. Mine looked good so I didnt go after it. Looked like it would take some time to get at.
