Default Windshield washers quit working

My washers quit working on my 84'. I have checked the fuse and it is good. I checked the wiring connections at the pump and am not getting any voltage when I attempt to activate the pump. I am thinking the relay could be the problem. Is there another relay that will interchange with the washer relay so I can know for sure if this is the problem. How about jumpering connections at the relay plugin. Any suggestions?

I don't think there is a relay for the regular washers. There is one for the intensive washers, however.

If you're sure you know which relay, go to 928 Specialists websire ans look on the fuse/relay charts. If you know which relay it is, you can see if any of the others share the same part nunber.

The regular windshield washers have no relay - its direct drive from the column switch. The normal washer pump is not easy to get to (inside the passenger fender...) so are you sure you are looking at the right one?

well you could recheck the pump that you already checked but first put the headlights on and then pull the washer stalk to you with the key on , this should tell you if the headlight washers are working.
To test your windshield washers (washer pump is under the coolant bottle) this is a hard pump to get to. you have a better chance of touching it from under the car the whole pump slides off its mounts

The pump is held on to the car frame by a rubber mount. There are two rubber plugs that stick through the passenger tire well. Pushing these through will free up the pump, which is indeed in a PITA place. If you can get to the pump, you can check the wiring and unplug the tuning that heads to the windshield so as to see if fluid is indeed getting through the pump.

Rust buildup in the system can cause clogging all the way up to the spray spigots. Just be sure this isn't the problem.

Good luck.

If you have rust in the system then you need to remove (this should be done anyway) both of the metal collars one in the new washer tank fill tube that you buy, and the other is in the tank inlet this will be rusty and dropping metal/rust into the tank, this eventually will turn to rusty water and be squrted onto your hood, and clog the squrters. The tank is under the right fender, so remove the R/F wheel and liner to see the tank
