Post Beru Wire Ends

Just pulled apart my spark-plug harness, on the '86. Nice bit of engineering by Beru! The plug and distributor terminals look like they would be a shame to toss into the garbage, and they unscrew so easily. The "crimp-on" wire ends are threaded at the tip and it is apparent that the double crimp would have to be "undone" in order to use them; and that looks unlikely. I would doubt that anything else would suffice for wire-ends, so I wonder if anyone knows of a source for the Beru wire-ends?

That would be very nice to find those ends. I have one that is bad and I need one badly! Also this way I can change my wire to color match the engine trim. Britt

A less-than-optimal method would be to do what "ordinary" manufacturers do; that is, build a stud with a screw-thread end/bolt-thread end, and screw the screw-thread end into the wire core center, and then screw the bolt-thread end into the Beru terminal.

These have OEM Beru connectors. I "coughed" up the money for a set of these last year and am quite happy with them.

Brit,

I am sorry you didn't post this earlier. I just promised Big Dave a full set of Beru wires, red in color.

John D

BTW, What color are your wires Brit?

I'm in need of a red set of wires, Doz! The thing is, I think I want to re-route them, so what I need is un-finished wires. Please explain how you are acquiring the wire-end pieces.

My wires are dirty black now. I want some color in my life. Maybe blue or yellow or Silver to go with my trim.???
Thanks for the thought.
Let us know if we can get just the ends. I'll start with the one bad one, then when I find the wires and have the money Great
Thanks so very much!, Britt Li

The Beru rep told me that the wire ends are available separately in Germany. Here in the U.S., it costs less to purchase the whole set. Go figure. Keep watching eBay; I picked up a nice new silicone set (w/ Beru plug ends) for $25...

I called the guys at Nology and they had the Bero-style wire ends in stock. I have Nology wires, but wanted to trim them and route them better - they were a tad long. I don't know, but they might sell you just the wire ends. Anyway - I asked for extra Beru ends for my wires and they gave me an extra set of 8 to go with those already on my wires.

Kewl, I'll call tomorrow and ask if I can buy the ends separately.
Thanks!

The threaded wire ends for the ignition wires should be available at any Porsche specialist or official dealer. These ends are the same as used on Mercedes too and nearly all MB shops stock them.
We keep both the Beru bulk wire and threaded ends to make wires if necessary. All individual parts for igntion wires are available.

There is a special Beru crimper required and that too can be bought in the USA.

The part number for the ends is 000 159 14 38 which I think is a Mercedes number.

If you go to your local shop and they use either Worldpac or IMC for parts supplies they can get them for you.

Thanks GMS.

I agree that coloured wires add a bit of dash to the engine compartment.

i purchased these red ones about 8 months ago. They were perfect length with OEM Beru connectors. I paid approx. $160 for the set:

So much for the "official" reply I got from Beru.

Wow Randy, that does look great! I really what some. To bad the holidays are over. Your engine really looks so clean like new! Good job! Mine looks so ruff right now I hope after my other projects I can work under the hood some.
See ya Randy! Britt

Okay now where can we get color wires??/
I heard someone makes glowing sparking wires. I know sounds crazy but I'd like to see them.
What are the spec of the wires 6mm, 7mm... Copper core?
Does any one know that will share the Knowledge? Thanks So Much Everyone, Brittany Li
