Strangely the hard part was to get the piston back in ( I wonder why? ) - I had to use both hands on the pushrod to get it down to the point where the little bolt thingy would go into the hole in the pushrod.
I assumed that all I was doing was pushing fluid back into the reservoir which should be easy to do?
The resistance was uniform; I mean it was not like the piston passed the entry hole & then got harder to push.

Also the piston really wanted to jump out of the M/C after I released the push rod - I wonder where this pressure comes from?

Anybody know?

The master is spring loaded - this is not hydraulic pressure. Burping the master really should not be necessary, but an easy to ensure things don't fly out is:

Use the pedal rod to hold things in place while removing the c-clip. i.e. keep the rod attached to the pedal, holding the piston down, so you can use both hands to remove and install the c-clip. Then you can use both hands to handle the piston when its not secured by the clip.

i just found this post, and wondered if anyone has any better/newer procedures for clutch repair than Stan's #17 post? doesn't seem too bad, just want to be sure before i dive in this weekend. i just had a puddle on the floor, and a clutch pedal fall to the floor, need to figure out what/where i ruptured..
