I have the MAF out of my car to try some MAF cleaner, and I stuck a rag down into the exposed U bend leading to the throttle body to wipe out any excess dirt or crud that may have fallen in when I detachaed the MAF and air cleaner box. When I bought it out the rag was covered with very moist, very brown oil. Now I'm not sure but I'm guessing the U bend should be pretty clean?
If I'm not panicking, what could this be a sign of?

its very common, 928's ingest oil into the manifold.
The car needs a proper breathing system but thats fairly complex. Clean what you can but its very common unfortunately.
OT: What the hell is your avatar? Is that like an evil R2D2?

Very old (+30 years?) BBC science fiction series called Doctor Who; Daleks were some kind of war robots with organic brain & dedicated to universal domination.

As other above noted - our cars have an issue with the oil ventilation system, which feeds right back into that rubber bend and into the front of the throttle body.
A few people have come up with ways to stop this.. look for Porken's posts, as well as others on catch can's, dry sumps etc.
One easy way to reduce how much this happens is to fill your oil only until its just above the lower line - the more you fill it the more oil gets thrown up by the crank and the more ends up going through the breather system.
Ryan, Dr Who is well over 30 years old.. 45 years.. it pre-dates Starwars by 15 years or so, so if anything, r2d2 is like a peace-loving, tie-dye wearing, hippy clone of Daleks!
