does that mean you put in the new alternator? Do you have the hot post cover ? Is it installed?

April 9 updates:

The new alternator is in. The 14 pin connector is scrubbed and covered. The CE panel is scrubbed and back in place.

I have commuted with the car every day this week, including a VERY rainy Tuesday. Pleased to say that I have had a steady 14.3 volts on the DMM (connected to the exciter wire circuit) the whole time.

At his suggestion from this morning, I'll be sending previous new alternator back to Roger, who has been stellar.

Too early to be conclusive, but the new alternator SEEMS to have repaired the voltage fluctuations. Thanks x 10 to all who have pitched in on this thread.

So here's one little smile for you...
Driving in to work today in beautiful sunshine, thinking about how nice it is to see steady voltage. Maybe, just maybe I've solved this problem, I think to myself. About minute later, a truck in the right lane starts to budge over a bit so I give him a friendly toot of the horn. As I depress the horn, the speedometer whips up to 120mph.

Did I just hear you think that there's nothing to fix on me? replied the car.

One has to be careful not to get too cocky with one's thoughts...

Great news and long may your voltage stay steady.

Wow Tim, excellent news. Plus congrats on the nitrous on the horn button install. Do you have a write up?
