Hey Vern.....what's this wire go to?
Famous words uttered I know but I saw an issue that needs to be dealt with during my recent coolant reservoir R&R.
Car: 88 S4 5 spd
The wire (grey) has a plug near the distributor on the passenger side. The are failing due to age and repeated movement over 20 years. I can see three wires in the plug (red, green, white). It looks like these go to the passenger injector or fuel rail after joining the wire harness in the front, middle of the engine. Any clues what it is and how to replace?
Thanks!

It looks like that would be your hall sensor wiring. This helps the engine know what cyclider is knocking and retard timing. If this is non-funtional, your car will run at 9º retarded all the time and will be down on power.
Edit: the hall sensor actually sits behind the driver-side cam.
