bye bye engine - bwaaaaaaaaaah new one! (sorry - another one)
i've bitten the bullet and bought a second hand engine complete from a reputable porsche breaker here in the uk. come out of a burnt car, engine bay not touched, maybe done about 60K miles. i am going to collect it tomorrow, and i hope to have the car up and running over the w/e.
if anyone has a use for:
cam carriers c/w cams and buckets
induction manifolds
throttle body
etc etc
from a twin distributor M28/22 Euro engine
the only bits that are no good are the crank and block, the heads require some machine shop tlc to restore face corrosion. valves, guides etc all ok.
let me know.
i did the maths on rebuilding my engine, works out at silly money...and i wasn't happy with the durability of a repaired block and crank.
so, another lump rescued and returned to active service!
John I can't believe how fast you work. In the amount of time you've pulled your old engine, torn it down, diagnosed what was up, and found a new engine, I have replaced the cork seal in my oil filler cap.
