Question cam sensor question

I was putting a new sprocket on the right side of the engine. There is a sensor of some sore right behind the sprocket. What is it? Yes I looked, I cannot find it in the manual. I car is a 1988.

Hall sensor. If not working properly it will retard your timing.

Check and be carefull with the connections, usually they are very brittle.

since your this far it might be a good time to install a new Hall,,, The connector housing for it and both of the knock sensors and the crank position sensor all seem to degrade and crumble at the same time

BTW- On a related question, you said you're doing the cam sprocket on the right side and found this. I'm sure you're actually replacing both sprockets, right?
