Chuck,

The Jager Gauge Trim kit you have on your car in the previous pictures, what was the background material? I want the look you have with the aluminum trim rings and black surround.
Is it the "Solid Piano Black" or "Brushed Aluminum"? There are several choices on the Jager website, but I can't tell for sure which one you have.

David,

I ordered the brushed aluminum trim rings. When I redid the entire instrument cluster, I took it completley apart. There is some type of nasty rubberized coating on the surround itself and I took all that off with goo gone. I resprayed the entire surround with flat black so there would be no glare there.
I then epoxied the trim rings on the cluster. I had also removed the clear plastic cover (very carefully) and polished it with Blue Magic plastic and plexi glass cleaner. It took out all the scratches and haze in the 30 year old clear plastic cover. (Bigtime difference!!!) I replaced all the idiot lights and circuit board.
The ONLY thing I forgot to do was the odometer gear. Oh well, gives me another reason to go back in someday. I had the pod resprayed with black dye so it would look new, also did the column bushing and bearing since the MOMO wheel hub was rubbing against the pod. I replaced the ignition clylinder and the ignition switch while I was in there as well. Dang, come to think of it, it was a long as Job!!! Not hard, but took a bunch of weekends as I kept finding new parts to order while I was at it.

Probably more than you ever wanted to know! Fire away on the questions, I'm ready for ya!

Chuck, I really like the look of your dash pod, that is what I have been planning to do to mine, but I did not know about the Jagar gauge rings as an option. I bought the ebay Speedhut trim ring surround linked in the 1st post and it is not very nice, I should have know better but ordered it and knew immediately upon opening hte package that it would not go on the car. I'll check out the Jagar website and try to find those gauge trim rings that you used. I want red led's so that the light won't mess with my night vision, as cool as the blue gauges look my eyes would get tired of looking at them at night. ARe the red warning lights still visible with all that red? They look it in the photos but it is kinda hard to tell from a picture.

I installed the speedhut trim rings and they looked pretty good, for awhile. The problem is that mine was a hair wider than the opening it was made to fit into and the rings are flat but the gauge faces are curved. This caused the gauge rings to want to spring back to its original flat shape which means it is always straining aginst the adhesive used to attach it. The trim is supplied with double sided tape. It sucks, I don't reccomend it. I tried using crazy glue but it failed after a couple of months and the trim ring just fell to the bottom of the guage cluster housing. I ended up taking everything apart again and removing the trim.

The reason I took everything apart in the first place was to install the speedhut electro luminescent guage faces. I reccomend these highly. They update the look of the guages and it looks better than the LED's in my opinion.

Heres the thread I made when I did my install. https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...light=speedhut

Just ordered the 'Cool White' LED package from Nicole. The red looked too much for me.

Ordered the Jager round clock and several other odds and ends to do a minor interior refresh.

Going to order the gauge trim from Jager as soon as they call me back to make sure I get the right one.

Can't decide between the Momo Fighter or the Momo 930S wheel from 928 Specialists.

Also just found an older Blaupunkt Honolulu CD50 that I like.

This has been some great info thanks again for saving me from a trashed pod. The pics have really convinced me that I need to do the led upgrade. Jason

PS(Chuck I wear the same shoes on the kids school runs some times. Half the time it's just my house slippers:-)

Hey Fabio, did you ever get a chance to take pics of your Speedhut gauges illuminated? Would be interested to see what it looks like.

I updated that thread today while searching for it when I linked to it in this thread, ( Boy was that confusing)

In short, no I haven't. I have been too busy enjoying them. I have the car apart right now awaiting some A/C parts. I will have the pod back in tonight so I'll try to get you a pic.

While your at it...the LED lights would probably go great with white dials. I have the LED kit from Jaeger but I have not installed them yet. I can't seem to park my car long enough to work on it. Here is the web link and a pic of the white gauges.

Chris, Warning lights are still visible. As Keith W. always states, the pics of LEDs always over dramatize the volume of light on the gauges. IT nice but not overbearing.

David, the cool whites will look great in your car. Everything/anything is better than the stock appearance that you or any owner is looking at right now. (my opinion) If I had to do another car the was airbag-less, I'd go with the 930 wheel. Much thicker than the Momo Fighter and just "Feels" better.
I just think the Fighter goes with the Silver theme of my car. Ties into the trim rings on the dash, the color of the exterior, and the door thresholds numbers 9 2 8 that I got from Jager and did in the brushed aluminum.

Jason, don't tell too many people you where those, especially with black socks while mowing the lawn!!

Flabio, Like the look of your gauges man!!!
