Default Porschefest 928 Corral

PCA is setting up Pcar corrals this year in Fontana April 4-6

http://zone8.pca.org/speedfestival.htm

Since this is a special 928 year - it might be cool to have a bunch of 928's show up on Saturday... we could even get our own track tour group, since yours truly is helping w/them again this year

Also some VERY cool factory drivers demoing new stuff on the track at speed - and you can be in the car w/them!!

This is the biggest Pcar event on the West Coast, 3 days of racing, a concours, venders, all the big club racers, etc - so...

Here's the official info:

The California Festival of Speed (previously the Zone 8 Speed Festival) is being held on April 4-6 at the California Speedway in Fontana. This annual event is in its 7th year and is a fabulous weekend for Porschephiles. The PCA (Porsche Club of America) Club Race brings some of the finest Porsche racers you’ll find anywhere. Teams include Kevin Buckler’s Racers Group, Steve Beddor’s latest RUF CTR, Lorren Beggs, 911 Design and many others. The American Le Mans Series is the only other series that comes close to this quality of Porsche racing. In addition to the Club Race, we are hosting the Yokohama Drivers Cup, a PCA Time Trial, a Concours d’Elegance, Vendor’s Row, Car Corrals and lunchtime Track Tours. Track Tours allow everyone an opportunity to drive the actual track (at reduced speed, of course).

There is no Region autocross at the Festival this year. In its place is a Porsche-factory sponsored autocross that allows you to first ride in a new Cayman or the new Cayenne GTS with one of Porsche’s instructors from the Driving experience in Alabama. After the demonstration run, participants will switch seats with the instructor and drive the vehicle themselves. There is a nominal fee yet being determined but all the proceeds go to charity.

We’re also planning to allow full speed demos of these vehicles on the big track in between race groups. Can you imagine the Cayenne GTS at close to 150 MPH going into Turn 1 with four passengers aboard?

We are looking for ways to attract more Porsche enthusiasts to the event, which is why we are approaching Porsche Clubs and Special Interest Groups. Typically there is a $10 parking fee for spectators and an additional $20 fee (per car) for the lunch time Track Tours. We are offering FREE parking for organizations that bring 20 or more cars in a group. In addition to free admission, we will have special Corral Parking next to Vendor Row. (Groups of 10 to 20 cars will get a 50% discount on the parking fee). Corral groups of 10 or more cars signing up for the lunchtime Track Tours will take their laps as a separate group. Our Hospitality Tent is located in the center of Vendor Row. You can have an information area set up in this area and, if you would prefer a separate area with your own canopy, that can also be arranged.

The basic idea is to offer Porsche Clubs and Porsche Special Interest Groups an opportunity to come as a group, get special pricing and treatment, enjoy the event and promote your club at the same time.

The group that I am going with on Saturday is a mixture of Porsche cars. We already have 11 signed up for the event. It would be nice if we can get to the magic number of 20 Please let me know if you want to join our list, thus getting closer to the FREE admission

wow, thats great!!

just let suesan know you'll be doing a 928 track run, er tour on saturday so you are all pre-registered.

track tours are during the lunch hour break between racing events, so then all we'll have to do is get staged together and we can breeze right on through.

should be a hoot!

It looks like we are in for some great weather for this event. As indicated previously in this thread, we are trying to get a group of 20 cars together so we can get free parking. I am meeting with a group in Alhambra and driving to the event. We are stopping in Ontario for breakfast and then expect to arrive at the event nlt 9am. Anyone else on this thread going

I'll be there around 9-10 am just got the last foo foo item fixed (hood light), and the old gal is running great! time to go play!

maybe more sharksters on the socal board?

kinda surprised there isnt more enthusiasim from the 928 gang - the 911, speedster, and other pcar groups already have full corrals...

biggest pcar event on the west coast too! anderson, fan and other 928s raced last year... 1st class track, lots of vendors, food, a concours on Sat that should have some awesome examples and TRACK TOURS in your own shark!!

pcar nirvana!!

Rob,
I'm curious, do you need to register for the concourse in advance

I don't think so - http://zone8.pca.org/Speedfest/2008/Z8ConcoursApr5.pdf

they just charge $10.00 more after 3/29... your shark would probably do very well!
