Paul, if you hear from him as he gets closer to San Antonio and needs some help please let me know. I will be checking this forum all afternoon.

When my crank sensor went is actually wasn't the sensor, it was the harness near-by. It wore through so when the car was running, there was enough vibration that the signal was still good, but as it got worse, the short would be more and more solid, until eventually no amount of wiggling would get it to run.

Got a call from Hans @ 9:10 pm. He had gone 350 miles back toward here without any problems. So far, so good. I think when he gets here the first thing I'm going to do is clean all of the engine connectors. I will also check and recheck all harnesses for chaffing, cracked insulation, brittle connectors and so forth. This will not happen again. Thanks to all who replied and offered help.

Got a call from Hans @ 9:10 pm. He had gone 350 miles back toward here without any problems. So far, so good. I am finally home. Car did well for the most part. On a fuel fill in the depths of Arkansas, it refused to start again. Naturally, no cell signal, and 3:00am. After three hours of sitting, and some fiddling with the gaggle of connections around the MAF, the car started again. After this, i never shut it off. It made the remaining 800 miles home with no issues, save a lumpy idle. The problems are still not diagnosed, but i will be ordering the parts for the intake r&r and hopefully that process will reveal an issue.
Thanks to all the people here on the board, but especially to Paul, Dave, Jim, and the entire DFW gang who offered support should i need it. Also to my wife, who took several 3:00am calls and had some tentative rescue plans, and also to my mechanic Pete, who always goes the extra mile.
The brake issue is still the strangest part of it all. After the brakes locked (and yes, i am sure it was all 4 corners), i had to go get new tires as it had eaten flat spots in 3 of the 4 tires down to the cords. They were very slim tires anyway, but it did eat flat spots on them all, and three down to the cords. Strange, but apart from increasing the warped feeling of the rotors, no other brake problems have been noted.

What an ordeal. It's terrible to not be able to contribute anything meaningful when someone you know needs help.

any chance that there is a power supply issue? if the power was disconnected from the ABS then you would be able to lock the wheels and maybe you might have stepped on the brake my mistake in the panic of the engine quitting while the car was rolling???
Also check for the ground wires to both coils and remove both of the coil wires from each cap and coil and inspect them, and check your coil feed wires for proper routing

I have the car at my shop now. In the next few days I am going to thoroughly inspect each connector, wire harness and the brake system. I WILL find what caused the no start issue. I will try to find what caused the brake issue. I did drive the car home and can say that the rotors are more warped than ever. It will definitely need new ones. Other than that the brakes felt fine.
I will post the fix to the no start when I positively determine what happened. Thanks again for the help.

Glad to read that you made it home OK Hans - that was quite an adventure!
My 0.02: the fact that all the brake rotors are warped concurs with the incident of all 4 wheels locking up. Something is not right in that system.

That's the funny part, 90% of the new leather parts are still at my place.
Hans was picking up the car to complete his wiring and the last of his fiberglass custom work inside + bodywork and paint outside.
The car is coming back to me for final trimming and assembly.

Well I finally got the car to die and not restart for me. Unfortunately it happened while I was in the drive-thru at my local Mcdonalds. I didn't bring any tools with me either. I'll have to let it cool down and it'll start back I hope. I do hear the fuel pump when I crank it. In the few minutes I was sitting in the drive-thru, the car developed a occasional miss. It would miss for just a split second. Kind of like only one cylinder misfired. The miss became more frequent to the point where as soon as the guy at Micky D's handed me my OJ the car died just like the I turned the key off. Will not restart. I will go back in a couple of hours and see if it starts. Just wanted to keep everybody updated as to what is going on. I will let you know what the problem turns out to be. I just have to get it back here to my shop.

Car will not start or stall
Either the hall sensor is out or the crank sensor-look at the post on speed sensor or crank sensor we just posted-the crack in the boot will be affected by the heat and will fluctuate the idle and stall.Mine did recently and rechecked this morning i have a boot split on the maf connector-awaiting for self fusing silicone tape this week.
