If you didn't catch it last night, I think it will re-air again soon. Two things I would like to bring up. Although it was a race documentary, I was dissapointed that the 928 was not mentioned (either that or I was in the kitchen). The second fact, which I was totally unaware of, was the fact that the 917a race car held the record for being the fastest car made for 15 years. 15 YEARS!. It wasn't until 1994 when a Indy car broke the record. WOW - things that make you go HHMMMMMMM!.
If you get a chance, treat yourself to the documentary - It goes from the beginning of Porsche up to Modern day times. Good Stuff Man!

I saw part of it last week, but at about 3 a.m. after a serious evening out. No amount of interest I might have had in the subject would have let me stay awake to see it. I'd like to see it again when I'm alert as it was interesting, and there were some other little trivia facts like that that I'd like to actually remember.

I think you saw the "Victory by Design Porsche" show. It was very good, except they really don't go into too much of the later stuff and I don't even think the 928 is even mentioned. Please don't stone me for this, but the "Victory by Design Ferrari" show was exceptional. Lots of in car camera and audio of the cars. Definitely worth watching. It comes around on Speedvision every so often.

Yes, you are right - V by Design of P - couldn't remeber the Title so, I dubbed it Porsche Doc.
Damn, was that 917a Fast - an average speed of 230 mph!
I did a Satellite search for this upcoming week and nothing came back. :-(

I watched it start to finish, and there wasn't any mention of the roadgoing cars at all, except where they were referenced as the basis for competition cars or as the recipients of technology fallout from the racing program. The only exceptions were cars like the 959 and 962, competition cars in very thin disguise.
Right at the end, there's a look at the current road cars, with special focus on the Boxster as the best road car. There's just a passing glance at the 996, and no serious mention of the turbo version. And no Cayenne at all, wonder why...
Nonetheless, it is a good program and worth watching when it comes around again.
